We’ve all read about how the new, much more contagious and serious Covid-19 Delta variant unexpectedly caused a medical catastrophe in India that continues unabated.  When the distress came directly to us from India Rotary District 3080, with whom District 5010 has a long-established special relationship, our District 5010 Rotarians raised within a few days the $13,220 dollars that District 3080 needed for as its match for an emergency Global Grant.
We received an urgent direct appeal from the D3080 District Governor to help raise funds for a very specific and critical medical deficiency, the ventilator controls needed  to keep people alive while on to oxygen and mechanical ventilation while fighting Covid, as well as cardiac patients who cannot receive critical care due to the explosion of ICU cases from a highly infectious new Covid mutation.   Our Indian fellow Rotarians described the situation as “dire”.

Hospitals in District 3080 had received mechanical ventilators for their ICUs but without the necessary control units and other required medical equipment.  The hospitals turned to District 3080 to raise the funds needed to purchase of this critically needed medical equipment.   District 3080 immediately submitted a Global Grant application and is currently pending approval.

The cash amounts raised by District 5010 Rotarians made the difference, enabling District 3080 to submit a credible, fully-pledged Global Grant application.

Way to go, District 5010 Rotarians!
