The Rotary District 5010 District Conference
It Will Be the Greatest Show on Earth
Seward, Alaska. May 17-20, 2018
Our 2018 District Conference is just around the corner. If you haven’t signed up yet it isn’t too late. You can do it right here. Check it out and watch the awesome video in the upper right-hand corner (courtesy of Dan and Lisa Phillips). You can take advantage of a discount with the Alaska Railroad (Under Conference Travel and Discount Codes). You can also book your hotel room there.

It will be a District Conference you won’t forget. It will be fun yet inspiring. The Seward Rotarians are pulling out all the stops. Rotary International President Ian Riseley is sending his representative Past District Governor (PDG) Stella Roy all the way from Newfoundland to be with us. Motivational Speaker and PDG Michael Caruso and his partner Rene (both Rotarians) will inspire us. Iditarod Champ Mitch Seavey will entertain us. PDG and Professional Magician, Jim Lang will amaze us. My fellow District Governor and noted Management expert, Don Evans will get you thinking. A “Rotary Cares for Kids” presentation will remind you of why we are all caring and kind Rotarians. Our Youth Exchange students and veterans will share with you their experience. DG Mike Kinsey is bringing a contingent of Rotarians from Ontario, Canada just to help us celebrate. PDG Madhukar Malhotra will lead a contingent of Rotarians from India who will help us honor our beloved Jon Deisher.

All of this will kick off with District Assembly Thursday, May 17, 2018. The day will conclude with a Bar-B-Q hosted by fellow Rotarian Tom Tougas. Entertainment will be provided by Paul Harris Fellow and Alaska Balladeer, Hobo Jim. Friday night we will head out to the beautiful and remote Fox Island Lodge for the Governor’s Banquet. On Saturday, we will be at the Sealife Center where the chefs of Seward will dazzle you with their specialties. Afterward, you can help us party (with DJ Lefty) and support the eventual end of polio All the while you can see old friends and meet new ones. You can talk to other Rotarians about their incredible projects and journeys. Are you wondering what to wear? Anything from Orange Flight Suits to blue jeans and tennis shoes. We are talking Alaska Casual. You should by now know what I will wear. I will also be wearing my “Be Humble, Be Kind, Take Action” fishing vest. And if you hurry and order by April 30 you can buy the cool and practical vest right on the web site. It will be delivered to you at the Conference. Back to the “dress code” Anything goes.  Carharts and Xtra Tuffs are A-OK too.
Thank You for being 5010 Rotarians and thank you for coming to our conference. It will be one you won’t forget.
