After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease, but a strong push is needed now to root it out once and for all. It is a window of opportunity of historic proportions.

Your contribution will help Rotary raise $200 million to match $355 million in challenge grants received from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The resulting $555 million will directly support immunization campaigns in developing countries, where polio continues to infect and paralyze children, robbing them of their futures and compounding the hardships faced by their families.

As long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children everywhere remain at risk. The stakes are that high. By donating now, you can help Rotary achieve a polio-free world. Rotary clubs will find several tools and resources helpful in promoting support for global polio eradication. The following tools can be ordered from RI World Headquarters (847-866-4600; email: )  )

  • Rotary's US $200 Million Challenge DVD (985-EN) provides an overview of Rotary's continuing efforts to eradicate polio and the three-year fundraising initiative to match the Gates Foundation grant. This 12-minute video is a great tool to use at club meetings and fundraising events. I have five of these DVDs available for club use and it can also be ordered for $15 each in six languages.

  • Rotary's US $200 Million Challenge Brochure (986-EN) describes to Rotarians and non-Rotarians Rotary's commitment to finish polio and encourages support for Rotary's challenge. I have several hundred brochures available for club use and they can be ordered for free in nine languages.

  • Rotary's US $200 Million Challenge Poster (987-EN) encourages participation in Rotary's challenge. It is suitable for display at Rotary meetings, fundraisers, and other events. I have six of these posters available for club use and they can be ordered for free in nine languages.

  • Rotary's US $200 Million Challenge PowerPoint is a shorter version of the presentation made by 2007-08 Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Robert Scott at the 2008 International Assembly. Periodically updated, the PowerPoint can be readily presented at club meetings by Rotarians who are not experts on polio eradication. This PowerPoint can be ordered from the PolioPlus Division by email at
