In the 1990s and early 2000s, our Alaska and Yukon clubs helped to start Rotary in the Far East of Russia adding to our geography of clubs.   During this period, approximately forty-seven new Eastern Russian Rotary Clubs were created and Russian Rotarian, Dr. Vladimir Donskoy, served as District 5010 Governor in 2004-2005.

For many years we held the title of the Largest District in Rotary stretching from the Ural mountains of Russia to the Yukon Territory in Canada. In June 2011, the Rotary International Board of Directors agreed to reorganize District 5010 to create the new Eastern Russia District 2225 effective July 1, 2012 and we welcomed our Russian friends into their new separate District.
