Feed the Hungry
Donation of dry ration packs to underprivileged people in rural communities of the
Central Province of Sri Lanka who are impacted by the present pandemic
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT |
It has been an incredibly tough year with the present pandemic and the new variant spreading fast for many of whom are living below the poverty line in Sri Lanka. The number of positive patients and deaths grew fast, with people losing their source of income.
The majority of Sri Lankans are daily wage earners or run small modest cottage businesses. Most daily paid workers cannot find employment and the small cottage business persons are finding it very difficult to run their businesses, as these individuals are forced to remain at home. The majority of them are unable to afford even one square meal per day. Added to this, the cost of living has escalated sharply.
The Rotary Club of Kandy, in collaboration with the Centre for Handicapped, is attempting to assist them in the best possible way.
