Take the Shelter Box Challenge

It is the time of year to think about helping others, working on Rotary projects and truly exemplifying Service above Self.

Our goal is to challenge ALL of the rotary clubs in District 5010 to donate to ShelterBox within the rotary year 2019-2020!!! This would make us the first district to achieve this goal.

Take the Shelter Box Challenge

The Star shines on the mountain near Arctic Valley outside of Anchorage. It burns brightly until the last musher finishes the Iditarod dog sled race. Yes, it is the time of year to think about helping others, working on Rotary projects and truly exemplifying Service above Self.

As my commitment to the Rotary eClub of District 5010, I will continue being a ShelterBoxUSA Ambassador alongside ShelterBox’s new volunteer Ambassador, Jess Gutzwiler with Anchorage South Rotary Club. Our goal is to challenge ALL of the rotary clubs in District 5010 to donate to ShelterBox within the rotary year 2019-2020!!! This would make us the first district to achieve this goal.

We know that ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that provides temporary shelter and life sustaining equipment to families that have lost their homes to natural disasters and humanitarian crises and that it is also a global partner with Rotary International. But did you know that they have been deployed over 300 times to over 100 countries helping over 1,600,000 people?

By donating as little as $25, your club will be signed up for the Iditarod Challenge.  All clubs will be recognized for their participation. Will your club be number 1 on the starting line?   The first club to send in $1049 to ShelterBoxUSA will win First Place in the challenge. Yes, there will be first, second and third place winners and the last to send in their check for $1049 will be given the Green Lantern Award.  Again our goal is to have 100% of District 5010 clubs register.

This challenge has been sanctioned by our DG Andre Layral. If your club takes part in this fundraiser, you will be one step closer to meeting the criteria for this year’s Presidential Citation. So please sign up for this great event which will run from January 01, 2020 until the end of the Iditarod sometime around March 20, 2020.

Checks may be mailed to:
