Cheryl Metiva, DGE 2021-2022
Cheryl grew up in a family owned business supplying dog mushing equipment & gift items world-wide, managing the primary retail location in Mackinaw City, MI.  The runners of a dog sled, the Iditarod and Alaska were second nature to her. Cheryl and her husband Marty moved to Alaska in 2003 where their life of adventure continues.  Her careers have varied from hosting a travel radio show, owning an event & tour company, hospitality, retail sales, marketing and non-profit management.

She’s served as president of the Wasilla and Susitna Rotary clubs, Lieutenant District Governor to PDG Sue Foley, twice co-chair of district conferences along with numerous other club and district roles.  Her Rotary “ah-ah” moments are clear- her first district conference, receipt of her first Paul Harris, as well as her first international conference in New Orleans.  These experiences cemented a lifelong commitment to Rotary.

Cheryl and Marty are passionate for youth and the future of Rotary, currently hosting their 6th exchange student with their Siberian Husky.  They love travel, fine wine, a good steak on the grill and life at their lakeside home.

Mike Ferris, DGD 2022-2023

Mike has been a leader as early as High School, in both his personal and professional life. He has served as a deck boss at age 18 on his family’s commercial crab boat, the F/V Seabrooke, fishing in the Bering Sea.  Later he captained the same vessel, generating some of the largest crab quotas in the fleet.  From 2000-2002 Mike led a team of Lithuanians at a refinery, moving product through ports in Lithuania and Latvia.

Mike will strive to keep Rotary fresh, while preserving the true Fellowship behind Rotary, “Service Above Self”.
